This cottage called Backen (the Hill), earliest dating is from 1752 in its current location. However, there lies an even older rock foundation next to the current position, and there are indications of the cottage having been moved to this property from some entirely different location all together. It was designed by Royal architect Jean de la Vallée (1624-1696) as a guardshouse along the King’s Road ‘Eriksgatan’, belonging to the castle Öster Malma. There exists an identical house on the other side of the called Bruket. The cottage was purchased by the Rundgren family in 1993.
The garden is rich with flowering plants from generations of gardeners. Linnea and I have embarked on establishing a permaculture garden, with edible perennials, mushroom cultivation, annual lots, herbs and medicinals, plenty of food for pollinators and a diversity of habitats. An old plum tree adorns the center of the garden space. we have added apples, peach, cherries, grapes, minikiwi, mulberry, hazelnuts, walnut, seabuckthorn, blueberries, strawberries and so on. Below you can browse a variety of projects ranging from garcening, to forestry, and construction.
